The world’s population is growing at an unprecedented rate. With an increase of 78 million people each year we can expect the global population to reach 9 billion by 2050. Our ability to meet the long-term needs of this population is severely affected by unsustainable lifestyles and the impacts of climate change on our natural resources and development, presenting major challenges to achieving sustainability.
Understanding the complex web of interconnections between population, climate change and development is key to developing innovative solutions that adapt to a changing world and reinforce the path to a sustainable future.
Over 7 days in South Africa, LEAD will provide training to around 200 future leaders from more than 30 countries to equip them with key skills and understanding, and enable them to contribute in a concrete way to the challenge of sustainable development.
It will also provide an opportunity for participants to learn in a cross-cultural and cross-sectoral environment, building a deep understanding of interdependency and the need for concerted and coordinated action by all sectors and stakeholders.
